Clapham, Here Comes Maggie!

Fort the last weekend of Spring Break, we went on a road trip to Clayton.
We had to stop at the Spic for breakfast.Way good. Then Xian drove us to Ft. Union, where Mei got a Junior Ranger Badge,
and the girls got to see what it was like in Federal Prison.
From there, we headed to Capulin, where Mei got another Jr. Ranger Badge, and Mom and I got windblown.
Sunday, we got to see where Mom went to elementary school and the girls got to play on the playground. Then we scoped out CHS!

The big question is why there are no pictures of Clapham!?

Answer: It is hard to drive over the range looking for a homestead and watching out for things that tear at cheesy pieces of plastic on the bottom of a very low riding vehicle.

We will have to try again someday in the 4Runner. We had a lovely lunch at the Dairy Delight, then Xian drove us part of the way home through Ocate.

I don't Knead a dutch oven

Here is what we ended up with after trying Chuck's suggestion for no knead bread. I cooked it in a modern Fiesta Ware casserole. It was just the right size for the experiment.

We ate it for dessert after the Pancakes at the Possy Shack Breakfast.

Looks like a little too much flour on the second rising. The bread is nice and crunchy on the outside and tasty on the inside.
Thanks for sharing, Chuckie!

Comfort Food Sunday

After Mom making Chicken and Dumplings last week, we decided that Comfort Food Sunday sounded like a delicious idea (even if I don't eat the meat) The girls made the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and dinner rolls. I did the gravy- well Mom stirred the gravy, keeping the lumps out-, salad and asparagus.

After the meal, the fun began. All the kids joined the neighborhood kids and went sledding!

Cold and Pokey

It snowed a little this morning. It has been very cold for a couple of weeks. So this is the result of snow, a little sun and the continuing cold. (taken from my bedroom)

Snow Daze

We have had quite the week, starting with the big storm that kept all of us home on Tuesday. Can you find Whitey in the snowfall?

Today, we went out to get the H1N1 vaccinations for the girls and I could not open my door to the 4Runner. Upon closer review of systems, I deduced that someone slid on the icy road, hit the car, then sped off without a word. I got to meet Officer Baker with the LAPD.
We got the unharmed Prius out, got the vaccinations and are toasty at home. Now to pound the wheel well so that I can get into the vehicle again.
Argh.

We're on Strike

We have had another fun weekend of cooking, eating and playing games.
Yesterday Xian made Meatloaf all by herself! This was the first time she ever tasted meatloaf and all three girls enjoyed it.

Today was the Pancake Breakfast at the Possy Shack. A great crowd attended that included Mom/Gram, BobBie, and then Mason joined us at the tail end.

Then the crowd moved to the living room to play the Wii. Gram beat the pants off of BobBie at bowling. She got a STRIKE on her first throw!
